The RéDEHJA Association, “Réseau pour le développement européen de l’histoire de la jeune Amérique 1607–1865” (https://redehja.hypotheses.org/category/presentation/qui-sommes-nous), has launched the “Élise Marienstras – RéDEHJA Prize”, awarded on a biennial basis in honor of this distinguished historian and Americanist, a pioneer in the field of early U.S. republic studies in France.
The prize will be awarded on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the conclusion of RéDEHJA’s annual study day “Recent Publications”, which will take place at the Malesherbes campus of Sorbonne University (program available here: https://redehja.hypotheses.org/3013).
The shortlisted books are as follows:
- Virginie Adane, Aux origines de New York. Femmes et hommes dans la formation d’une société nouvelle (Presses Universitaires de Rennes, 2024)
- Gilles Havard, Les Natchez: vie et destin d’un peuple nord-américain (Tallandier, 2024)
- Martin Robert, Cette science nécessaire. Dissections humaines et formation médicale au Québec (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2023)
- Michaël Roy, Young Abolitionists: Children of the Antislavery Movement (New York University Press, 2024)
