The Carolina Lowcountry and Atlantic World Program and the University of South Carolina Press are delighted to announce that we are now soliciting submissions for the biannual Rachel Hines Prize for manuscripts on the Lowcountry and/or the Atlantic World.   More information: see attached file.   Submission deadline: June 1, 2025

Looking ahead: upcoming events

Call for Submissions now open: America’s 1776: Independence and its Enduring Legacies   A conference by the David Center for the American Revolution at the American Philosophical Society   America’s 1776 is one of three conferences co-hosted by DCAR and the APS in 2026. These conferences seek to examine the American Revolution in global, national, and local contexts, to view the American Revolution in relationship to the Age of Revolutions, and to debate the central forces of change at work in the period. The other events are:   Global 1776: Imperial World in Upheaval (Hong Kong, March 12-14, 2026)   Europe’s American Revolution (Paris, October 2026; an AMERICA2026 event, details forthcoming)   Date: June 4-6, 2026   Location: Philadelphia, PA    Submission Deadline: June 23, 2025    For more information and the official Call for Papers, see here
