The book traces the life of Adrien Pierre Fabré, a surgeon-major in the Marine royale aboard the Hermione during Lafayette’s voyage to America in 1780. Through this long-overlooked figure, the book explores maritime history, naval medicine, Rochefort, and the Franco-American alliance during the American Revolution.
