The Strasbourg Summer School, hosted at the
University of Strasbourg, France, offers U.S. and European undergraduates a tuition-free, immersive experience exploring the impact of the American Revolution on Europe. Supported by the French National Research Agency (
ANR) and
The Great Questions Foundation, the program is co-organized by Ted Hadzi-Antich Jr. (Associate Professor of Government and Executive Director, The Great Questions Foundation) and Ghislain Potriquet (Associate Professor of American History, University of Strasbourg). It is part of the
AMERICA 2026 program, a four-year international research initiative dedicated to studying how Europe understood and responded to the American Revolution.
What Makes This Program Unique for U.S. Students?
Experience history in Europe: Understand how the American Revolution was perceived abroad through primary sources written by French, Italian, Spanish, German, British, and Irish thinkers of the late 18th century.
Engage with experts: Each day, guest lecturers will present fresh perspectives on European responses to the Revolution.
Collaborate internationally: Study alongside French peers in a small cohort of 40 students, fostering dialogue and lasting connections across the Atlantic.
Cultural immersion:Discover Strasbourg and its surroundings through cultural activities organized by the AMERICA 2026 project.
Develop new perspectives: Gain a deeper, comparative understanding of the Revolution’s global impact—valuable preparation for further studies, careers in education, international relations, public service, and beyond.
