The conference Women in the Age of Revolutions. France, United States, Europe (1776–1876) will be held on 5–6 February 2026 at the Maison Internationale des Langues et des Cultures (MILC) in Lyon. It will bring together international scholars to examine the roles, experiences, and political engagements of women in the Age of Revolutions. Adopting a transnational perspective, the conference will explore women’s work, participation in revolutionary conflicts, patterns of circulation and forms of subjection, practices of self-writing, as well as women’s contributions to political thought. Finally, the conference will interrogate the gendered meanings of masculinity and citizenship in revolutionary societies.
