La Révolution Américaine Des Européens Représentations et Symboles

This two-day event at the “E. Perteson” Library at the University of Turin was organized by Manuela Albertone (Turin) and Bertrand Van Ruymbeke (Paris 8). Entitled “European representations and symbols of the American Revolution” (La Rivoluzione Americana degli Europei. Rapparesentazioni e simboli), the conference brought together French and Italian historians specialized in the history of revolutionary traditions to exchange findings and ideas on the nature and the extent of the circulation and exchange of ideas, representations and symbols of the American revolutionary moment across southern European political cultures and historiographies. Agnès Delahaye (Lyon), Ghislain Potriquet (Strasbourg), Eric Schakenbourg (Nantes) and Bertrand Van Ruymbeke (Paris 8) engaged in vivid discussions with their Italian hosts in French and in English, during panels and during the convivial moments surrounding the event, leading to the upcoming publication of a special issue of the giornale di storia costituzionale / journal of constitutional history in 2025.
